TRAINING LEADERS

More and more we realized the need to disciple believers. As a result, we held a teaching and training conference for children and youth church ministers. The theme was "Growing Up Into Him" Eph. 4: 15. We gave out 68 training manuals and 30 bibles to the attendees, as well as children's work books to assist the teachers in teaching biblical truths in a way that is relevant and fun for children.

We know many believers in Uganda lack a copy of the scriptures but at a recent teaching and training conference we were surprised by how many leaders in the church did not even own a copy of God's word. We praise God that we were able to give many of them their first bible of their own.

Our goal is to teach and train believers to interpret and respond to everyday life situations in a manner consistent with God’s word. We teach them how to read, study and apply the Bible. It is crucial they know what they believe, why they believe it, and gain a growing ability to articulate what they believe. They need to be equipped to grow a deep, comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of cultural attitudes.

By training the leaders of the church we are equipping them to train their churches and to pass their training on to other leaders. This is a key force multiplier in equipping the church in Uganda to equip itself. This not only builds up today's body of Christ, but it in turn will help to build the church of the future.
